Experience Clay!

Period
Summer 2005

Background
Clay is an ingenious material. Probably the material - besides wood - which was used for the first housings. It is more or less available everywhere and has unique physical characteristics which make it today more indispensable than ever. Clay accumulates humidity and emits it as necessary. It compensates temperature and reflects thermal radiation like no other building material. It is easy to handle and completely recyclable. But there is still little demand for this unique material. The building sector still preferes the conventional materials such as cement, bricks and concrete.

Target Group
Everyone interested in construction and/or artistic design

Description
In June 2005 the building material clay was presented to the public on the Katschhof in Aachen. 20 exhibitors – manufacturers, building material traders, architects and artists demonstrated the various features of clay. Natural colours of all shades, fettlings and wall units providing optimised housing conditions. Bright surfaces creating an oriental flair. An extraordinary event for the visitors as well as for the exhibitors.
