Background
The foundation strives to sustain the green corridor included in the inner city land utilisation plan after the removal of the old clinical centre.

Description
The foundation organized an international design competition for young landscape architects in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. The goal was to stress the ecological and social values of this green corridor. Winner was the project idea "Wildnisinsel"? (ile of wilderness).  After the specifications for the necessary works were completed, the city of Aachen stopped the project during the phase of application for public funds. The foundation commissioned the summary of all available expertises supporting the ecological importance of this area especially with regard to air hygienic aspects.

Status
By end of 2004, the city council of Aachen decided to sell the area to the insurance company AMB Generali. At present the building development scheme is in process.
